About MeHi and welcome. I'm Gilleon, former forensic scientist, author/writer and homemaker turned family history researcher. When compiling a family tree became an overwhelming task, I decided to write up family stories that interested me instead. When a plastic bag of important historical documents and photographs were unearthed from the back of a garage where they had sat for at least twenty to thirty years, I knew where to start! I was lucky to have my fastidious Opa, who not only led a very interesting and full life, but also kept meticulous records of everything to make my task much easier. Although I am starting with Dutch family, I also have Scottish and Northern Irish roots, which I will investigate fully in due course. Story by story. This may, however, take some time! Hopefully the final results will be of interest to family members and history lovers alike.

I am using resources available to me personally in family records, but also those that are available to anyone with an internet search engine.
